The History of Ross and Highland Co, Ohio states Jacob Landess came to Highland Co and bought the Stockwell Farm and settled on it in 1815. On the farm of Jacob Landess, north of Pricetown, there was a very ancient day earthwork. Mr. Landess had a famly of thirteen children, ten of whom married. Mr. Landess was most excellent people and good citizens. They were Dutch Quakers.
- Morris King married Susanna, the daughter of Jacob Landess and had fourteen children, thirteen of whom grew to maturity and married. Among them were six boys who have never used tobacco of any form.
- Jacob Garver, a Dunkard preacher, living to the west, on the Big Miami, often visited the Landesses, and held religious services in their house. Not having a regular preaching time announced beforehand, on his arrival Mr. Landess would mount a horse and make circuit of the neighborhood, far and near, and the neighbors would come together.
- Although several Landess researchers believe Jacob Landess to be the father of Felix Landess, there is no documentation to prove the connection. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence to link Daniel and other Landesses in Highland Co., Ohio to Jacob and the unnamed thirteen children. The above information shows that Jacob Landess immigrated to Highland Co., Ohio and his strong connection to the Dunkerd Church. While at the same time Daniel Landess also moved to the same geographical area in Highland Co., Ohio and associated with the same Dunkerd Church. He then got a job with Ford Motor Company, St. Joseph Plant. He worked at this plant until the stock market crash October 4, 1929, when it was closed. Ora moved back to Lincoln, NE where ora worked as a milker at a dairy farm for $1.00 a day and a quart of milk. He then got at job at the State Oil Company which was later bought by Phillips Oil Company. The family moved to College View where Ora got a job with Sutter Dairy as a Milk Truck Driver. He worked through several years of milk wars where one driver would steal accounts from another. After several years of this, hegot a job inside the plant where he worked for 6 years. He made $75.00 a month at this time. Ora worked at the Nebraska State Penitentiary for many years. His job was to escort prisoners to court among others. Ora's last job was with the Lincoln City Police Department.
