Hinchman Family Cemetery
(Today known as the Frye Cemetery)
Follow McComas Road to Roach. Turn onto Roach Road. You will immediately cross over a bridge. You will then see the cemetery beside the road on your right.
This cemetery was not used after about 1885 until the Frye family began to use it again in the 1960's. I have only included the names of people who were buried in the cemetery when it was known as the Hinchman Cemetery.
***According to the W.P.A. reading in April 1938, there were two markers in the cemetery. W.P.A. also noted that there were 4 unmarked graves. It is worth noting that the W.P.A. readings are not completely accurate. I read several other Cabell Co. cemeteries in their book and have found that they frequently overlooked marked graves. I guess they recorded what was easy to reach & didn't venture into the "brush" looking for markers.***
***Sometime prior to 1938, an unknown landowner in the Roach community removed most of the long, flat markers from the cemetery to make a walkway to his house. This listing of burials is compiled from records in the F.B. Lambert collection at Marshall U.***
