Original Homeplace of the John Cullers family, purchased by John Cullers in 1777.   The original house sat where the barn sits today.  It was built as a fort for protection against the Indians.  

 

Close up of the House.  The original part of the house was built before 1777, and moved to the other side of the creek in 1820.  The addition was put on in 1840 by Daniel Cullers, youngest son of John and Mary.  This property was in the Cullers and Munch families until 1997 when it was sold out of the family for the first time in 220 years.  The original land grant was to John Denton, then to John Conrad Teboe, and then to John Cullers.

Home of Isaac and Rebecca Jane Phillips Cullers in Rileyville, VA, where Charles E. Martin was born in December 1900.  The picture was taken about 1916.

 

Road leading to Mathias, Hardy County, WV, where Jacob and Elizabeth Ridenour Cullers settled after their marriage.  Many of their descendants still live there.

 

 

 

Lloyd Clayton and  Julia Olive Kefauver Culler.  Lloyd was mayor of Frederick, Maryland longer than any other man to serve in that position.  His terms served were from 1922-1931, 1934-1943 and 1946-1950.  He was well loved by the people of Frederick.

 

 

 

 

    The home of Captain Henry Culler in Jefferson, Frederick County, Maryland.  This home was destroyed to make way for a road.  It was built in the early 1800's and was reputed to have been a tavern, as well as a family home.

Cullers Run School, in Hardy County, WV.  This school first opened it's doors to students in September of 1898.  It was built at a cost of $137 for materials and labor.  By 1914 there were 54 students in the one room school, and a second room was added, which was used until 1945.  The school was closed in 1956.  It has since been bought and refurbished and is being used as a school museum, under the ownership of Mr. Kenneth Shifflett, who was born in Beldor Hollow, near Elkton, VA.

Home built by John Randolph Cullers, sixth child of John and Mary Cullers, near Luray, Page County, VA.  This house is still in the family, being the property of Jack Lee Cullers, great-great-grandson of the builder.

Home of James Franklin and Rosa Shipe Cullers, Cullers Run, Hardy County, VA, now owned by Kenneth Shifflett, owner and operator of the Cullers Run School Museum.

Tombstones of Michael and Elenora Schmit Culler, found in the Culler Cemetery on Holter Road, between Middletown and Jefferson, Frederick County, MD.  This cemetery is not cared for, as the farmer who owns the property doesn't like people coming onto his land.  As can be seen in the photos, the stones are nearly buried under weeds, bushes, etc.

Tombstone of Jacob Culler, Salem Church Cemetery, Springboro, Clear Creek Township, Ohio.  His wife, Elizabeth is buried in Slifer's Church Cemetery, Montgomery Co, Ohio.  This stone is nearly unreadable, but it says Jacob Culler, born 1748, died 2 Feb 1829.
