NOTE: The following transcription was typed from a first generation copy of the original, that was owned at the time I received it by my aunt, Leola Hall O’Bannon, the daughter of Sarah Jane Cole ‘Hall‘. Sarah obtained it from her father, John Sigel Cole, it was given to John by his mother Eliza Jane Hicks Cole ‘Peters‘. It originally belonged to A.T. Cole, who died in the Civil War. The Bible’s print date is 1853.

All attempts to decipher some of the more illegible entries are typed exactly the way they appear to the eye - no corrections for spelling are made. Uncertain entries are in parenthesis, and the interpretations are my own. ~'john n. hall
