West Blatchington Parish Church - St Peter

West Blatchington Church

West Blatchington was once a small settlement on the South Downs. In the 1950s it became part of Hove, as the town expanded northwards from the coast. Originally built in the 12th century, the church was in ruins in the 19th century. It was well restored in the Victorian era, and then in 1961, extended to fit the growing population.

The nearby manor house was knocked down in the 1970s to make way for a block of flats. Blatchington Windmill is still standing, on the green outside the church.
