East Hoathly Parish Church

East Hoathly Parish Church

East Hoathly church is perpendicular in style, with a Pelham tower (donated by the Pelham family and with the family's emblem - the Pelham Buckle). The perpendicular style of architecture dates from between 1350 and 1550 - it was the last stage of Gothic architecture. There is no dedication.

Black's '1861 Guide to Sussex' briefly mentions East Hoathly as 'a pictuesque village, situated on the borders of Holland Park, a former residence of the Pelhams.' The population in 1861 was 667.
