Descendants of Richard Rogers of Farrington Gurney, Somersetshire, EnglandThe first Rogers in this family line to Australia was John Rogers, son of Richard, born in 1816 in Farrington Gurney. John was transported as a convict to Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) for the crime of stock theft (under force of arms). He married another convict, Mary McCarthy and after being pardoned by the Governer, moved to Bombala in the Monaro District of New South Wales.
