Lily Powell Patterson was born in Perryman, Harford County, Maryland, on July 30, 1873, daughter of Olivia Claggett Powell and Frederick Ethelred Patterson. The Pattersons had been in Perryman since the early eighteenth century. The first Patterson of whom we have record was Robert Patterson, born in 1715. The Pattersons were active members of St. George's Spesutia Church in Perryman. Related families included the families of John Hall of Cranberry, Edward Beedle, George Goldsmith, George Little, Joseph Presbury, Luke Raven, William Robinson, Detmorus Sternbergse (Stansbury), and many other early Baltimore and Harford County families. Families: NEW!! Web Family Cards--detailed information on individuals and family trees Robert Patterson and Jane Little (daughter of George Little) were married around 1740--marriage not listed in St. George's church records. Jane Little was indicted for bastardy in 1738/9 and again in 1739/40. It seems likely that their daughters Sarah (b. 1739) and Cynthia (b. 1741) were conceived out of wedlock, although their births are listed in the parish registers as children of Robert and Jane Patterson. from Bastardy Cases in Baltimore County, Maryland, 1673 - 1783 by Henry C. Peden, Jr. William Presbury Patterson married Frances Gould of Church Hill, Queen Anne's County (Eastern Shore) on February 19, 1810. The Patterson bowl dates from their marriage. Frances' Gould and Hawkins families were among the early settlers of Queen Anne's County. Some pictures from St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Church Hill.
