In the Name of God Amen The first Day of March one thousand seven hundred & sixty four. I Garah Davis of Frederick County in the provance [sic] of Maryland being very sickly & weak in Body but of perfect mind & memory, Thanks be given to God therefore, Calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men to die, do make this my Last Will & Testament that is to say, first of all I recommend my Soul to God my Saviour who first gave it, and my Body to the Earth to be buried at the Discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I[,] I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. And as touching my worldly Estate I give and devise as follows, that is to say.

Item I give & bequeath to my Son Benjamin Davis one Negro Man named George and one hundred and twenty and five Acres of Land with the plantation he now dwells in, to be layed off at the Discretion of Nathan Veatch.

Item I give & bequeath to my three Daughters, that is to say Elizabeth, Sarah & Prissiller [sic] each of them one Cow – Prissiller to have a Calf with her Cow.

Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary one Mare, that is to say the oldest Mare now on the plantation and two Gounds [sic] & pettycotes [sic] to be delivered to her in two years by my Son Richard, at his Discussion [sic] that is to say of what Sort of Stuff he pleases.

Item I give & bequeath to my Son Richard Davis my dwelling Plantation with all the Lands adjoining (except what I have given to my Son Benjamin as above mentioned) the same, together with all my movable Estate, & to see that all my just Debts be paid & see that this my Last Will & Testament be fulfilled in manner & Form aforementioned, and I do hereby, utterly disallow revoke and disannull all other Wills, Legacies & Executors by me before named, confirming this to be my Last Will & Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal the Day & Year first above mentioned.

On the 6th Day of April 1764 Came Jacob Duckett & Nathan Veatch two of the Subscribing Witnesses to the within Will and made oath on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God that they did see the Testator Garah Davis sign and Seal the said Will & heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament, and that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of a sound and disposing Mind & memory & they also did see William Spiers the other subscribing Witness to the said Will sign his Name as a Witness thereto, & that they severally subscribed their Names as Witnesses to the said Will in presence of the said Testator and in presence of each other
