Township, in Niagara Co., New York on 05 Jun
1849, Richard was the son of Solomon and Eliza
(Smith). At the age of twenty-six, he married
Elizabeth Ruth Ducket Hall, the daughter of Moses
W. and Ann Elizabeth (Dowell), who was born in
Moniteau Co., Missouri on 24 May 1861. The date of marriage
occurred on 24 Jun 1877, and the couple was
blessed with four children: Eliza Celestia who
died in her infancy; Mamie Mindwell who married
Charlie Fivecoat; Louis Martin who married Lizzie
Woods; and Richard Dowell Wait.
Richard died on 06
Mar 1887 at the age of thirty-five and was laid
to rest at Pleasant Springs Cemetery in Oyer, St.
Clair Co., Missouri. His widow married Asa Guffey
and survived him many years, living until 12 Dec
1929. She died in Roswell, Chaves Co., New Mexico
and was buried at South Park Cemetery.
