| Richard E. Wait
and his wife Elizabeth (Hall), were the parents
of four children. Their eldest, Eliza Celesta,
was born in Roscoe, St. Clair Co., Missouri on 18
Dec 1878, but died prior to her first birthday on
22 Oct 1879. She was laid to rest the following
day at Pleasant Springs Cemetery. Their second daughter and
oldest surviving child, Mamie Mindwell Wait, was
born in Roscoe on the 14th of September. Pictured
top left, she married Charlie Nathan Fivecoat in
Argentine, Wyandotte Co., Kansas on Christmas Day
of 1901. Charlie was born in Audubon, Iowa on 14
Sep 1881 and was a streetcar motorman. They were
the parents of Samuel Richard; Mildred Peaches,
Bertha Ellen, and Ruth Louisa - the two youngest
having been born in San Diego, California where
the family had moved.
Asa and Alford
Guffey (pictured top right above Louis M. and
Richard D. Wait), were the sons of Elizabeth and
her second husband Asa Guffy whom she married
after Richard Wait died.
Mamie died at the
age of 43 on 03 Mar 1924 and was laid to rest at
the Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego. Charles
lived to age 68 and was buried beside her,
passing on the 12th of January 1950.
