In 2012 this album came into the loving care of Sandy (Fox) Whitney, great great granddaughter of Sarah (Stratton), wife of Abraham Richard Fox who lived near Reelsville, Putnam Co., Indiana. It is believed that all the photos in the album are related to the Daily, Fox, Stratton and Girton families although many, such as this handsome young man, are not identified.

Sandy is attempting to identify all persons in the album and learn more about each of them through additional research. If you can help identify or add further information to this photo, please contact us.

A note about photographer Carson: Little has been found on this photographer, William A. Carson. He does appear to be the same listed in an 1877 directory for Hillsdale and in an 1880 census for that city, and according to the information provided he was born in New York in about 1830, and appears to have lived in Canada prior to coming to Michigan as his wife, Mary A. (Wyllie) had been born in that country in about 1845. The eldest daughter, Ida, is also listed as born in that country in about 1866 while the younger daughter Minnie W., is listed as born in Michigan - indicating the family had come to that state in at least 1871. Additionally, there is a marriage record for Ida A. Carson, born in Toronto, Ontario in 1864 (died Seattle, WA 1935) who married Charles M. Curtis on 01 Dec 1886 in Hillsdale, offering some speculation that the family had remained in that city until at least that time; but may have removed to Wayne County where the younger daughter, Minnie, was married to Theodore O. Leonard, Jr. in 1896.
