In 2012 this album came into the loving care of Sandy (Fox) Whitney, great great granddaughter of Sarah (Stratton), wife of Abraham Richard Fox who lived near Reelsville, Putnam Co., Indiana. It is believed that all the photos in the album are related to the Daily, Fox, Stratton and Girton families although many, such as this woman, are not identified.

Although the identity of the young woman is not known, the Daily family had early ties to Louisville. After the marriage of Philip Daily to Mary (Wise), they lived at Fort Bear Grass, which was afterwards Louisville; and they were enumerated in Jefferson County in 1790. In 1796 the family moved to Clark County, Indiana where they resided the remainder of their lives. Among their ten children, Jacob Daily was the third and last child to have been born at Fort Beargrass. He and his 2nd wife, Isabelle (Barker), are the parents of Elizabeth F. Daily, wife of Stephen Stratton and mother of Sarah who was married to Abraham R. Fox in Putnam Co., Indiana in 1860.

Sandy is attempting to identify all persons in the album and learn more about each of them through additional research. If you can help identify or add further information to this photo, please contact us.

Additional information about photographer Ben Boardman: He owned a photograph gallery on 114 W. Market near 4th street from at least 1875 until 1881, and it was then situated at 336 W. Market, Louisville. He was enumerated in the 1880 census residing in Louisville, listed as owning the photo gallery. Listed as aged 46, born in New York, he appears to be widowed with a young daughter, age three and his mother-in-law, Mary Terry, age 57 of Georgia residing in his home.
