Lewis Trombly/Trombley was born 24 Mar 1805 in Clinton County, New York. He married Sophia Gregory of Isle of Mott, Vermont who was born in March of 1811 and came to Monroe County, Michigan in June of 1833 accompanied by his sister and her husband Horace Hill. They came on the first steamer, Walk-in-the-Water, to Toledo and then came to the territory of Michigan which was settled by only twenty five or thirty families in what would become Summerfield Township.

Lewis and Sophia were the parents of four boys and one girl who attained the age of adulthood. Lewis died in 1874 and his wife died in February of 1880.  They were laid to rest in the Old Petersburg Cemetery in Monroe County Michigan.

  1. Horace Jerome - born 20 Nov 1837 in Petersburg, Monroe, MI; died 15 Oct 1924 in Petersburg, Monroe, MI; buried in Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, Monroe, MI. Is listed as single and living in his brother Lewis' home in the 1920 Monroe, MI census. He may have died in Petersburg, Monroe Co., MI and had been a Justice of the Peace in Summerfield Twp between 4 July 1910 and 4 July 1914.

  2. William - born about 1840 in Monroe Co., MI. He married Phoebe Perry.

  3. Phebe - born about 1842 in Michigan.

  4. Lewis Egbert - born 25 Apr 1845 in Petersburg, Monroe, MI; died 4 Jun 1927 in Petersburg, Monroe, MI; buried in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Deefield, Lenawee, MI. He married Amelia Plumadore.

  5. Victoria - born 27 Aug 1848 in Monroe Co., MI; died 14 May 1919 in Petersburg, Monroe, MI. She married (1) George Mead.

 
 
GENERATION II
 
 
William Trombly, the son of Lewis, who was born about 1840 in Monroe County, married Phoebe Perry in 1860 and had the following children: Mary born about 1861; Alice born about 1863; Annie born about 1865; and Frances Amelia who was 11 Nov 1866 in Petersburg, Monroe, MI, died 20 Jul 1944 in Detroit, and was the wife of Richard G. Peters.
 
 
Lewis Trombly, son of Lewis, who was born about 1845 in Monroe County and married Amelia PLUMADORE. He enlisted in the Civil War in Co. M, 8th Michigan Cavalry, August 30, 1864, at the age of 18 and served as a bugler under Capt. James M. Wells. He joined his reigment at Lexington, KY on Sep 21st 1864 and was discharged at Pulaski, TN on 10 June 1865.

His wife Amelia had been present at the Christmas Trombly Family Reunion at George Peters' home in 1912.

  2. Lenore - born 28 Feb 1880 in Petersburg, Monroe, MI; died 26 Jul 1962 in Toledo, Lucas, OH; buried in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Deefield, Lenawee, MI. She married on 23 Jun 1909 at St. Antoine (St. Mary) Catholic Church in Monroe, Monroe County, MI Oliver L. Dushane, Jr., who was born 15 Apr 1883 in Monroe Co., Michigan, died 1 Feb 1931 in Monroe County and was buried 4 Feb 1931 in St. Joseph Cemetery.
  3. Frances "Fannie" - born abt 1886 in Michigan. She married Clem Webb.
  4. Florence - married R.F. Kerwin
  5. Carrie - married Arthur Wagner.
 
 
Victoria Trombly, daughter of Lewis who was born about 1848/49 in Monroe County was the wife of George Mead and mother of Madge who married James Houseman and had one son Jimmy; Bess who married George Bell and had Elizabeth; and son George Mead, Jr.
 
 
GENERATION III
 
 

Frances A. Trombly, daughter of William, who was born 11 Nov 1866 in Petersburg and died 20 Jul 1944 in Detroit, MI was the wife of Richard George Peters whom she married on 27 Sep 1885 in Petersburg.  Richard George Peters was born 19 Jun 1865 in Petersburg, and died 29 Mar 1934 at his home near Wampler's Lake.  He was the son of George Peters and Mary Jane (Holmes).

  1. William Fullerton Peters - born 21 Jul 1888 in Petersburg, MI; died Feb 1957 in Dixmont, ME.  He married  Eliza Proctor who died in 1923.   William and Eliza had one child, Elizabeth who died in infancy.  William later married Nellie and had by her two daughters, Ruth and Jean.
  2. George Richard Peters - born 16 Mar 1888 in Petersburg, MI; died 24 Feb 1954 in Alhambra, CA.  He married Gertrude Main Breningstall.
  3. Frances Evelyn Peters - born 16 Jun 1895 in Petersburg; died 17 Nov 1982 in Traverse City, MI.  She married Robert Jeffery Eoff.
  4. Mary Helen Peters - born 6 Aug 1904 in Petersburg; died 23 Apr 1988 in Washington D.C..  She married John Frederick Obel Wilkens.
 
 
GENERATION IV
 
 
George Richard Peters, son of Frances (Trombly) and Richard Peters who was in Petersburg in 1888, married Gertrude Main Breningstall on 24 Dec 1918 in Petersburg.  She was born 11 Dec 1890 in Petersburg, and was the daughter of Horace J. Breningstall and Henrietta E. (Main).  She died on  27 Oct 1975 in California.  They were the parents of one child, George Horace Peters who was born 5 Jan 1920 in Toledo, OH.  George passed away at his home in Cottonwood, Yavapai County, Arizona on 15 Jan 1998.  He was the husband of Louise Beatrice Baker, formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan.  Obituary on File.
 
 
Frances Evelyn Peters, daughter of Frances (Trombly) and Richard Peters who was born in Petersburg in 1895, married Robert Jeffery Eoff on 17 Jun 1916 in Toledo, OH.  Robert was born 16 Dec 1891 in Detroit, MI; died 5 Dec 1959 in South Lyon, Michigan and was the son of George Eoff and Anna B. (Jeffery).

Mary Helen Peters, daughter of Frances (Trombly) and Richard Peters who was in Petersburg in 1904, married John Frederick Obel Wilkens on 27 Nov 1935 in Detroit, MI.   John was born 07 Jan 1896 in Aalberg, Denmark and died 8 May 1964 in Detroit, Michigan.  They were the parents of Susan Anina and Joan Frances who married Richard Warren Mulliken.
