| George was born in Peoria,
Illinois on 29 Jul 1860 and was the son of James
G. Spier and Elizabeth A. (Hayes). He is shown
here at age eight in September of 1868. He was
enumerated with his family in the earlier federal
census records residing in Peoria but removed to
Iowa in 1898. There the family resides in
Davenport, where he was listed as a distiller in 1900, and a machine
operator in 1910. He married Mary
F. McBride who was born in Ireland in June of
1861. They were the parents of: Bessie, wife of
Thomas H. Ray; Minerva C. who died in 1903 at age
thirteen; and Ruth who married Raymond O'Connor.
The
family removed from Iowa to Los Angeles Co.,
California where Mary died 12 Jul 1935 and George
in Pasadena on 01 May 1950.
