| Solomon
Peck Smith, the son of Richard and
"Sally" (Peck), was born in Clifton
Park, Saratoga Co., New York on 13 Aug 1830. He
married Sarah Marie sickler in Halfmoon on 06 Sep
1856. By 1860 the family was
living in Troy, Rensselaer Co., New York. They
were enumerated on July 31st by John Holmes,
their household consisting of young Fredy age 3
and Katy age 1. Also included in this household
were: Julia Donahue, Andrew Smith and the Silas
Sweatland family.
In 1862
Solomon organized and was captain of Co H 115th
NY Infantry Volunteers. He lost his left arm in
the battle of Deep Bottom near Richmond, Virginia
and was discharged in January of 1865.
In 1870
and 1880 Solomon and Sarah were living in
Waterford, Saratoga Co., New York. They had five
children: Fred P., Kate S, Myron P. who became a
rancher in Texas and died at the age of 34,
Charles F. who died at the age of three before
1870, and Harry J. who died at the age of nine in
about 1877.
Solomon
left New York and was in Seattle, King Co.,
Washington at the time of his death on 05 Oct
1918.
