| Daughter of Samuel T. Smith
and Judith (Morehouse), Mary was born 25
Oct 1820. She married David Knowlton, son
of Daniel and Susanna (Vedder) on 10 Sep
1846. They were the parents of: Sarah,
who was born in 1847 and married Henry M.
Chrisler; Catherine who was born in 1849
and married Aaron Van Slyck; Hattie who
was born 11 Oct 1852 and is photographed
here with her mother; and Charles, who
was born and died in 1854. Mary died on 24 Apr
1854, only a couple months after the
birth of her son. She was laid to rest at
Vale Cemetery. Her husband is believed to
have married Mrs. Susan Clark Brooks and
was a resident of Schenectady, living in
the 5th Ward. He died on 10 May 1897 and
was also buried in Vale Cemetery.
