Daughters of Samuel & Cornelia (Buck)

Cora was born during the difficult and turbulent days of the Civil War on 03 July 1862. On her third birthday, the country was hanging to death in Washington D.C. the four conspirators (Mrs. Surratt, Payne, Herold, Atzerodt) involved in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

Interestingly enough, Cora's younger sister Lucretia was born exactly eight years after President Abraham Lincoln was laid to rest. Born appoximately 250 miles from the late President's home town of Springfield, Lucretia was born in Smithton, Pettis Co., Missouri on 04 May 1873.

When she was just a couple months shy of her 7th birthday, Lucretia's older sister Cora married John Monroe Williams on 03 Mar 1880. About eleven years later, shortly before her 18th birthday, Lucretia married Albert Pruess. A member of the Christian Church, she died before her 25th birthday at the home of her sister Cora in Lexington, Ray Co., Missouri on 04 Apr 1898.

Cora's death followed not quite a year and a half later on 13 Sep 1899 when she was thirty-seven years old.
