| Sisters Elizabeth and
Cornelia Buck, daughters of William and Adeline,
photographed with their Smith husbands. The photo
was probably taken in the 1890s after the aristo
finish, a process that began to replace the sepia
tones, was introduced. The Buck sisters
appear to have been very close in age, Elizabeth
being perhaps a year younger. She was born in the
portion of Ohio which would later become Erie
County on 15 Jan 1831. She came with her family
to Warren Co., Illinois and there at the age
eighteen, she married Ryan Gowdy Smith.
Cornelia
Buck was also born in Ohio, perhaps in 1830. She
married Samuel Smith, the son of Richard and
Sally (Peck) of Saratoga Co., New York on 29 Aug
1849 in Warren Co., Illinois. The family settled
near Smithton, Pettis County, Missouri in 1865
and resided there the remainder of their lives.
Cornelia and Samuel died within two months of
each other in 1904 and were laid to rest in
Smithton Cemetery.
