| Ship in which the Russomanno
(Rossomanno) family had taken to come to the
United States. It arrived in the New York port on
April 15, 1921 having departed from Naples,
Campania, Italy. This family included Papa
Saverio, Mama Mariangela and their three sons
Giuseppe, Francesco, and Armando. It is also
speculated that the Ambrosio family that was also
on the ship, Domenico and wife Maria (Fazio) and
daughter Assunta who was four, are the same
family in which Theresa Laratta-Baugh was friends
with in Phoenix, Arizona during the 1960's 70's.
The
Providence was built for the Fabre Line in 1915
and was capable of carrying 2,240 passengers -
140 first class, 250 second class, and 1850 third
class. The ship was later scrapped in Italy in
1951.
