Francesco Saverio & Mariangela (Criserá) Rossomanno

Francesco Saverio & Mariangela (Criserá) Rossomanno

Francesco Saverio Rossomanno, was the son of Pietro and Dionora Agliuzzi, one of twelve boys who were orphaned out to different environments by poverty. Four of the twelve brothers remained together: Pietro, Gerardo, Vittorio, and Giosúe.

On 13 June 1889, in Papanici, Cantanzaro, Italy, Francesco married Mariangela Criserá, daughter of Domenico Criserá and Rosa Iornese (pronounced Yornese) and were the parents of nine children.

The first of their children to emigrate, was Pietro, a shoemaker who went to St. Louis, MO in 1907 on the Virginia. Next to come to the United States, was their daughter, Caterina, who came in 1920 on the Patria. Mariangela then followed with their sons, Giuseppe, Francesco and Armando in 1921 on the Providence; and shortly thereafter, their married daughter Eleanora Laratta and her son Pantaleone came the following month also on the Patria, her husband Armando Laratta having come to the U.S. on the Canada in 1920.

Saverio, who was born 20 Jun 1868, passed away in 1928. After his death, Mariangela married Frank Sottili. She had been born 13 May 1870 in Italy, and passed away on 23 Apr 1947 at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 10 days. She was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.

Their descendants live in the U.S., Canada, and Argentina.
