| Francesco Saverio
Rossomanno, was the son of Pietro and Dionora
Agliuzzi, one of twelve boys who were orphaned
out to different environments by poverty. Four of
the twelve brothers remained together: Pietro,
Gerardo, Vittorio, and Giosúe. On 13 June 1889, in
Papanici, Cantanzaro, Italy, Francesco married
Mariangela Criserá, daughter of Domenico
Criserá and Rosa Iornese (pronounced Yornese)
and were the parents of nine children.
The first of their
children to emigrate, was Pietro, a shoemaker who
went to St. Louis, MO in 1907 on the Virginia.
Next to come to the United States, was their
daughter, Caterina, who came in 1920 on the
Patria. Mariangela then followed with their sons,
Giuseppe, Francesco and Armando in 1921 on the
Providence; and shortly thereafter, their married
daughter Eleanora Laratta and her son Pantaleone
came the following month also on the Patria, her
husband Armando Laratta having come to the U.S.
on the Canada in 1920.
Saverio, who was
born 20 Jun 1868, passed away in 1928. After his
death, Mariangela married Frank Sottili. She had
been born 13 May 1870 in Italy, and passed away
on 23 Apr 1947 at the age of 75 years, 11 months
and 10 days. She was laid to rest at Calvary
Cemetery in St. Louis.
Their descendants
live in the U.S., Canada, and Argentina.
