The daughter of
Abraham and Martha (Dupree), Sarah E.
Roach was born in Alabama in about 1839.
Family stories say Sarah had been the
nurse of Ned's first wife Priscilla who
had been sickly the last years of her
life, and that after her death Sarah
married the widower Ned in Hopkins, Red
River Co., Texas.
At the time of their
marriage, which occurred on 11 Mar 1858,
Sarah was eighteen and Ned was sixty-two.
Their first child Joseph was born the
first year of their marriage, but their
second child Martha would not be born for
another eleven years. Her birth was then
followed by Ada, Benjamin and Charley
Tisdale - the youngest having been born
seven months after the death of his
father who died on 15 Jan 1878 in Denton
Co., Texas.
On 22 Feb 1880, Sarah
married James Taylor. She died 30 Dec
1927 in Dawson Co., Texas and at the time
of her death was living with her son
Benjamin.
