| Born
22 Feb 1821, Jane was the daughter of Stephen A.
and Jane (Oliver) and never married. She was
first located in the 1850 census in the household of
her parents and was listed as age 29. Her father
died in Stamford in 1858 and in the 1860 census her mother was
listed as head of household and Jane as age
thirty-eight. After her mother's death in
February of 1868, Jane resided with her sister
Elizabeth (wife of James Rintoul) in Manhattan,
New York - or was at least living with them when
the 1870 census was taken. Jane's sister Mary
Struthers had gone to Jersey City in Hudson Co., New Jersey
so she remained in New York and was located in
the 1880 household of her sister
Elizabeth Rintoul, wife of James. In 1900, the last census she was
enumerated in, she was living in Delaware Co.,
New York with her sister Mary Rich, widow of
Stephen. According to the South Kortright,
Delaware Co., NY - Presbyterian Death Records
(1810-1924) and her headstone in South Kortright Cemetery, Jane died on 29 Nov 1907.
