| Possibly
the daughter of William Blakely and Nancy
(McDonald), Sarah was born in December of 1818.
She married Ransom Mitchell, the son of Pierce
and Abigail "Nabby" (Burr) at
Kortright, Delaware Co., New York on the morning
of the September 10th, 1849 by Rev. Chapman. According to the census
records, Ransom was born in March of 1820. The
couple was enumerated in the 1850 and 1860 census residing in the
town of Meredith. In 1870 Ransom and his wife are
residing at the hotel owned by Sidney and Olive
Bullard in Oneonta, Otsego Co., New York which is
approximately ten miles from the town of
Meredith. They continued to reside in Onenta
through 1880 and lived until at least 1900 when they were enumerated
in that census in June and according to that
record, had never had children.
According to the
Delaware County, NY - Genealogy and History site,
Ransom and his wife Sarah A. (Blakely) were laid
to rest in the Woodland Cemetery in Delhi,
Delaware Co., New York.
