| The
son of Pierce and Abigail "Nabby"
(Burr) of Connecticut, Ransom was born in March
of 1820. He married Sarah Blakely in Kortright,
Delaware Co., NY on 10 Sep 1849, she having been
born in December of 1818. Identified as "A relative"
it is speculated that Ransom's wife Sarah, is
possibly the daughter of William Blakely and
Nancy (McDonald). Should this be the case, Ransom
would be the uncle of Hannah's husband, William
Blakely Peters and his sister Elizabeth Mitchell,
the wife of Sarah's brother, Goldsborough Banyer
Blakely.
Ransom and his
wife Sarah were enumerated in the 1850 and 1860 census residing in the
town of Meredith. In 1870 Ransom and his wife are
residing at the hotel owned by Sidney and Olive
Bullard in Oneonta, Otsego Co., New York which is
approximately ten miles from the town of
Meredith. They continued to reside in Onenta
through 1880 and lived until at least 1900 when they were enumerated
in that census in June and according to that
record, had never had children.
According to the
Delaware County, NY - Genealogy and History site,
Ransom and his wife Sarah A. (Blakely) were laid
to rest in the Woodland Cemetery in Delhi,
Delaware Co., New York.
