| Hannah
Southard Clark was born in New York City on
December 5, 1831. The daughter of George W. Clark
and Maria (Southard), she moved with her family
to Westchester County and resided for many years
in house which adjoined the Southard-Robertson
foundry buildings on the east where perhaps her
father worked as a moulder. In 1850 they were living at
Cortlandt Township, having moved to Peekskill in
about 1843. Her father died in 1860, at which time her mother
Maria was listed as head of household. In about
1877 they built a home at 206 Nelson Avenue,
which at the time was about the only house in the
neighborhood. Here it seems they would live the
remainder of their lives.
Hannah, Charlotte,
and their mother Maria are listed in 1870, 1880, 1900, and 1910 census records residing in
the same household. According to Hannah's
obituary, she had been a member of the First
Presbyterian Church since 1853, and for years had
been active in the primary department of the
Sunday School. She passed away on 25 Aug 1917 and
was laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery.
