Lizzie
was born in Ohio in July of 1841 as Martha
Elizabeth or Elizabeth Martha Kolhappy, the
variations of this surname being
Collahappy/Colhoppy.
The
recorded marriage to Richard Montgomery Pilcher
in the St. Louis Marriage Registers, Volume 11
(1862-1865) lists her name as Miss Lizzie M.
Collahoppy and states they were married by Rev.
J.V. Schofield.
A
letter written by Mont's brother-in-law Thomas A.
Moore, who was married to Mont's youngest sister
Clarissa and was serving in the 33rd MO
Volunteers, wrote of the marriage from Helena,
Arkansas 30th of April: "tell Mont that I
congratulate him on his marriage and am happy to
have lizzy for a Sisterinlaw she is agood girl
and will make a good wife long may they live in
peace and happiness and have many children."
Lizzie
and Mont had seven children: Frank, Richard,
Emma, Alexander, Harry, Marietta, and Eugene
Pilcher.
Marietta
"Etta" was the youngest daughter of
Mont and Lizzie Pilcher. She was born in
Septemeber 1880 and passed away in 1952 in St.
Louis.
