"Ruia" Mavis Wait, daughter of Solomon
and Eliza (Smith), was born in Saratoga Co., New
York on 04 Mar 1845. She married George Pettit on
04 Nov 1868 and in 1870 the couple was residing
in Speedwell Twp., St. Clair Co., Missouri with
their one year old son Thomas Byron who was born
02 Aug 1869. Thomas died later that
year on the third of August, and the couple had
three more sons: Fred who was born about 1870,
Howard and Charles Pettit.
