Born in Petersburg, Monroe
Co., Michigan on 02 May 1921, "Gene"
was the son of Wilson Eugene Peters and Emily L.
(McNamara.)
He
attended Petersburg High School, and in 1940 he
married Dorothy June Hartman. Inducted and
trained at Camp Joseph T. Robinson in the Spring
of 1944 and at Fort Geroge G. Mead, he was sent
to Europe during World War II. Killed at the
Battle of Strasbourg on 27 November 1944, his
young widow was left with three children: Jean
Marie, Gerald and Jane Peters.
