Mr. and Mrs. William J. Redmond, Centralians for
22 years Friday observed their golden wedding
anniversary, having been married on September 4,
1892, in Portland.No special celebration marked the
occasion, but Thursday evening the couple was
surprised with a party given by the Royal Arch
Masons and their wives.
Mr. Redmond, now
74 years of age, was born in Ontario, Canada
December 7, 1867, and went to Portland with his
parents in 1874. He later became a Columbia river
steamboat captain, still holding his license, and
then became interested in lumbering. For 10 years
he was a mill manager along the Columbia river,
then coming to Bunker in 1914 as manager of the
Hill Logging company. In 1922 he organized the
Klaber Lumber company at Boistfort with R. H.
Nodes as a partner, operating that company until
1928.
Mr. and Mrs.
Redmond came to Centralia in 1920, moving into a
home at 1505 North Pearl street, where they have
lived since.
Mrs. Redmond is a
native of Washington, having been born at Olympia
on September 10, 1874. Both are in good health
and are exceedingly active. They have no
children.
