New York Times | 1896 Nov 20
The wedding of Gen. F.H. Winston of Chicago and Miss Sallie Reeves Hews of New Orleans was celebrated in Trinity Church at 1 o'clock this afternoon, the Rev. Dr. Warner being celebrant. The church was profusely decorated with palms and huge banks of flowers, including a number of choice floral tributes from Gen. Winston's home. Mr. Harry Walker of Chicago was the only groomsman, and Miss Elisa Winters of jackson, Miss., the bride's only attendant.

The ushers were Messrs. Mortimer Wisdom, Beverly Myles, William Lyman, Garland Wolfe, T.I. Bartlette, and William Eskrigge. The church was crowded with the most fashionable of New Orleans society. To-night Gen. and Mrs. Winston left for New-York, from where they will go to Europe and Africa on a six months honeymoon. Gen. Winston was Minister to Persia under President Harrison, a gallant veteran of the war, and a prominent Chicago financial and society leader.

Miss Hews was Queen of the Krewe of Momus four years ago.

Note: Frederick H. Winston's first wife, Maria G. Dudley, daughter of Ambrose and Elizabeth (Talbot) died in 1885.
