"AH! WILLY," WE WILL "MISS YOU."
Wedding Announcement of Wm. M. Meredith to Emma A. Shellenberger

Indianapolis Journal | Indianapolis, IN September 8, 1858
"Ah! Willy," We Will "Miss You."

Yesterday afternoon Mr. William Morton Meredith, one of the Journal news room typos, procured the services of Rev. C.W. Miller, of Roberts Chapel, for a very solemn service. Mr. Knefler, Clerk of the Court of Hymen, had issued a paper bearing a broad seal, which document William triumphantly declared should terminate his career. Those not "up to snuff" thought he intended to commit suicide, but their suspicions were groundless. All fears of his safety were dispelled yesterday evening by the receipt of intelligence that he was married at five o'clock, by the minister named above, to Miss Emma A. Shellenberger, of this city. Accompanying the news was a large and beautiful cake, inscribed "To the Journal Boys," from Mrs. W.M.M." The cake was cut into "takes," and each fellow took his piece in the turn indicated by the figure he had drawn in "pulling." After the cake was disposed of, three rousing cheers - but "nary" tiger - were given for William and his handsome bride, and the kindest of wishes expressed for the young couple for success and happiness in life.
