| The broach, measuring 1½
inches wide, was hand inscribed with the initials
"HR" and belonged to Hannah (Rich)
Peters. Born in South Kortright,
Delaware County, New York, Hannah was the
daughter of James Rich & Jane (Southard), and
wife of William Blakely Peters whom she married
on the 17th day of July 1861, just four days
prior to the Battle of Bull Run.
