to as "Sissy" she was born October
28th in St. Louis and was the eldest daughter
of Tom and Clara whose first two daughters
had died in infancy. She was apparently
named for her mother and Aunt Amanda Moore,
sister of her father. Seated in the first photo,
Amanda married John Fenton of Crimble Hall,
Lancashire County, England in about 1891.
According to the 1900 he was born in March of
1866, had been in the U.S. for twelve years
and was a "car accountant."
Letters
written to and from John Fenton in 1893,
1895, 1896, and 1898, indicate John was
somewhat in charge of attempting to attain
the lost Mossman estate in Berwick Upon
Tweed, England.
John and
Amanda lived in St. Louis where they were the
parents of James Albert who was born in 1892
and married Addie May Suggs; Cynthia Lillian
born in 1894, wife of Clarence Suggs; Emerson
was born in July of 1899 and died as an
infant; and Ralph who was born after 1900 and
also died as an infant.
