daughter of Samuel Caldwell Meredith and Margaret
(Ballard), Emily Ellen Meredith was born in
Centerville, Wayne Co., Indiana on 19 Jan 1842.
She married Captain Edward Willis Nicholson of
the 22nd Indiana Battery on 01 Nov 1865 in Marion
Co., Indiana. They were the parents of Meredith
Nicholson, the author and diplomat; and Margaret,
wife of R.P. Noble. Emily passed away on 06 Jul 1915 in
Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana and was laid to
rest at Crown Hill Cemetery beside her husband
who passed on 21 Aug 1894.
