B. James was born on 13 Aug 1875 in Charlestown,
Clark Co., Indiana. His father, William James,
had been born in Mason Co., Kentucky in 1822 and
his mother Elizabeth "Lizzy" Daily in
Charlestown in 1837. He married Theodocia
(Lewman), daughter of Samuel and Eliza (Holman)
in about 1901. They were the parents of David
Lewman James who was born in Charlestown and
later raised a family there.
James
served as postmaster at Charlestown under
President Woodrow Wilson, the above photo taken
during the time of this postal appointment.
James B.
James passed away on 28 March 1955 and Theodocia
on the 30th of May in 1946. Their son David
passed away in Jeffersonville on 08 Feb 1967. All
are laid to rest in Charlestown Cemetery in
Clark County, Indiana.
