| Cynthia is
believed to be "sketched" in the center
drawing. The photo was believed to have been
taken in an art class and the persons in this
photo are unidentified, and except for the person
holding the sketch of Cynthia, may not be
related. Cynthia,
the subject of the sketch, was the daughter of
John Albert Fenton and Clarissa Amanda (Moore).
She was born in St. Louis on 12 Aug 1894 and
married Clarence Seymore Suggs in about 1913.
Clarence was born in Tennessee in May of 1888 and
was the son of James Larkin Suggs and Susan
Frances (Lawler). It should also be noted that
his sister Addie married Cynthia's brother James
A. Fenton.
As noted in the 1920 census, Clarence was a
billing clerk at the Express Company and the
family resided at 1207 Armstrong, next door to
where Cynthia's aunt, Mary Jeannette
"Mamie" (Moore) Lane was living (1206
Armstrong Ave.) when her son Clarence was born in
1918.
Cynthia was
entered into rest on Monday, December 19, 1927 at
the age of thirty-three and was laid to rest at
Lake Charles Cemetery. She was the mother of
John, Francis, Edith, Bernice and Thelma Suggs.
