Eli Moore was the youngest son born
to Eli Moore and his wife Deborah (Updegraff).
Born in what was known as Beaver Dam,
Pennyslvania, his father died less than six weeks
after his birth.
In
1851 he married Maranda Hooker, the daughter of
John and Mary (Watson) and they were the parents
of nine children, living in Ohio, Missouri, and
Illinois.
