Residence of Benjamin F. Rose - Petersburg, MI
Oliver T. Rose was born in Rhode Island on 11 Nov 1799. He married Eliza Mumford who was born in that state on 03 April and in 1833 they came with their 2 year old son Benjamin, to Monroe County and claimed land south of the Richard Peters farm. Their land began west from Wood Street to Rose road, and beyond to the river, south from Walnut street to the village limits and beyond to include the farm which was owned by Rudy Menzel which had been constructed by Benjamin Rose in the late 1860's.

Oliver Rose was "highly influential in community affairs as land owner, private money lender, and was a driving force in building the Presbyterian church. It is recorded in history that he gave liberally ot the church, to the schools, and to the poor."
