The
schoolhouse is located within the small
hamlet of Pitkennedy, in a rather rural
location with Forfar about six miles to
the south, and Brechin six miles to the
north. In 1861, James and
Mary (Smith) Davidson resided in
Pitkennedy where he owned 100 acres of
land and employed two. Mary died at
Pitkennedy on 30 Oct 1885, and James on
17 Apr 1889. Both are buried at the kirkyard in
Aberlemno.
