This
"post card" photo was
addressed to Ward's brother Frank
Danforth in Pine River, Minnesota
located in Cass County and had been
sent from
Upland, California with a one cent
stamp. The postmark looks to be dated
the 10th of August.
Ward
was the son of Addison Danforth and
Jennie (Birge), and was born in
Baldwin Township, Barnes County,
North Dakota. He died in Los Angeles,
California and he and Martha were the
parents of two children - daughter
Naomi; and son Robert Taylor whom
they adopted at the age of 14 months
in the year 1924 after his mother
died. - Ward and Martha had cared for
Robert while his mother was ill; and
his widowed father having five
children, allowed the Danforths to
adopt him. He was born Robert Francis
Taylor and is the father of Martha
Danforth-Ruiz.
The
photo made its journey from San
Bernardino County to Jenny (Miller)
Laskaris, niece of Ward and Frank,
and daughter of their sister Bertha
who married Charles Miller. Jennie
Laskaris recently passed the photo to
Ward's granddaughter, Martha
(Danforth) Ruiz, who now cares for it
and has kindly contributed a scanned
image of it for the web site.
