The son of Albro B.
Danforth and Eunice (Short), George Arthur
Danforth was born 11 Dec 1881 in Saratoga,
Winona Co., Minnesota. In 1905 when Alberta,
Saskatchewan and Manitoba became provinces
and were opened to homesteding, and in 1905
sold off the band of horses and in the fall
of 1906 went with his father and brother up
to Taber to file a homestead on a half
section of land. In the spring of 1907 they
loaded four colonist cars and set off, Albro
and Eunice in one car, George in a second,
Harry in a third with Everett, and Rob in the
fourth.
George
never built on his homestead but bought land
and had a fairly sizeable farm when they
moved off it in 1944. From 1944 on, George
and his wife Agnes (Paterson) lived up the
street from Eunice, then widowed, and Agnes
stopped almost daily on her way to and from
the post office to visit her until Eunice's
death in 1952. George passed away on 02 Nov
1960 and his wife Agnes on 02 Oct 1917.
Norman
Paterson Danforth, the youngest of their
children, was born in Taber on 30 Sep 1924.
He married Thelma Lee (Goode) in 1967 and
later moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona where
they made their home the remainder of their
lives together. Thelma passed away on 16 May
2001 and Norm a few years later in Scottsdale
on 02 Aug 2004.
