| Born on 09 March 1839, son
of David Wise Daily and Mary (Shirley). He
organized the Fifty-third Regiment of Indiana
Volunteers in New Albany in January 1862, and
established his headquarters in the old Zed
Griffith Hotel which stood on the corner of Main
and Market Streets. On
the 6th of September in 1864, Seth married Miss
Barbara Stierheim. She was the daughter of
Francis and Sarah (Neely) Stierheim and was born
in about 1843. She was the mother of Seth's three
sons Edward, David and Charles; and their two
daughters Jessie and Shirley Daily.
Barbara passed away in
1875 and sometime after 1880, Seth left Indiana
and went to California. He died there in Chico,
Butte County, on the 24th of August 1888, but was
laid to rest at Charelstown Cemetery.
