| David's father, Seth S.
Daily, was born on 09 March 1839 in Charlestown,
Clark County, Indiana. He was the son of David W.
Daily and Mary (Shirley) and married Barbara
Stierheim on 06 October 1864. Barbara
was the daughter of Francis Joseph Stierheim of
France, and his wife Sarah (Neely). She was born
in Charlestown in about 1843 and was their eldest
daughter. She and Seth were the parents of sons
Edward, David, Frank and Charles; and their
daughters Jessie and Shirley Daily.
Barbara's died in about
1875, and sometime after Seth left Indiana and
went to California where he was enumerated in the
1880 Federal Census living in San Diego, listed
as a forty-year old widowed farmer.
