| Daisy
Daily (pictured left at age 15 in about 1901, and
pictured right at age 17), she was born near
Ferris, Hancock Co., Illinois and was the
daughter of John W. Daily and his wife Selina
Irene (McKinley) who were married in Hancock Co.,
Illinois in 1874. In 1880 her parents and
older siblings Minnie, William and Lulu were
listed in the census residing in Prairie, Hancock
County, Illinois; but in October of 1891, just
before Daisy was to turn five years of age, her
mother Selina passed away. Her father remarried
in 1893 to Mrs. Irene E. (Clark) Barger, her
first husband having been William H. Barger whom
she'd married 09 October 1891.

February 14, 1906, in Hancock County, Illinois,
Daisy Daily married Lee Siegfried. He was the son
of Isacc and Mary, and was born in Hancock Co.,
Illinois on 30 June 1884. - He is pictured here
shortly after his marriage to Daisy. His father, Isaac
Siegfried was born in Pennsylvania on 12 August
1843 and was the son of Charles and Susannah
(Laub) who had come to Hancock County in 1857 and
located on a farm in Carthage Township, but later
purchased a farm in Rock Creek Township. Issac
married Lee's mother, Mary Hannah Thornber, on 27
Feb 1871. She had been born in Rock Creek
Township, Hancock Co,. Illinois on 11 January
1852 and was the daughter of Henry Thornber and
Lucy (Ellison), both of whom had been born in
England and had come to Hancock County in 1842.
Mary
Hannah (Thornber) Siegfried passed away on 07 Oct
1934. She and many of the Thornber and Siegfield
family members ans spouses are laid to rest at
Thornber Cemetery, located in Sonora Township in
Hancock County, Illinois.
In 1926,
twenty years after Daisy was wed to Lee, he
passed away leaving her a widow of teenage
children. She supported her family by working as
school teacher, Sunday school teacher, former
telephone operator and postmaster in Ferris until
her retirement.
