JOHN DAILY,
son of Jacob and Isabella (Barker), was born about 1822 in
Indiana. It was previously speculated that he had
married Mary M. Overman on 12 Feb 1846 in Clark
Co., IN, she having been born about 1831 in
Indiana. This family of John was followed in the
census records from 1850 residing in Monroe Twp.,
Clark Co., Indiana to Atchison Co., Missouri.
However, a closer look at family wills and land
records, indicate that John had died unmarried,
and most likely sometime around 1850 to 1851.
All
of Jacob's children from his marriage to Thie
(Praim) and Isabelle (Barker) appear to be listed
in the land sale recorded in Deed Book 41; Page
536, dated 26 Sep 1851. It lists the heirs of
Jacob Daily who sold land and signed as: Joseph
A. Lutz and Mary Ann (Daily) Lutz, (married
1839); Charles Mahan and Elizabeth (Daily) Mahan
(married 1846); Philip Daily who did not marry
Susan Minerva Hawn until 1852; Anderson Ross and
Mahala (Daily) Ross (married 1830); Isabel Daily
(widow of Jacob who died in 1832; and Jacob Daily
and Jane (Beckett) Daily (married 1834).
An
on-going search for a death or burial record for
John Daily continues. Because the John Daily and
Mary (Overman) family was followed, and because
John's first cousin Thomas Hardin Daily had
married Rachel Overman in 1846, the information
for the John Daily and Mary (Overman) can be
viewed at the Overman page or see
census records for more.
