Mary
Shirley-Daily's maternal line traces back to
Thurston Collier who was born in Darlaston,
England in 1542 and was the son of Robert Coliere
and Joyce Scrimshire. Thurston married
Elizabeth Tunstall about 1563. Their son,
Robert Collier was born in London in 1556 and
married Mary Strange in London on 14 March 1587,
and died in London in 1625. Their son
Charles Collier was born in London in 1580 and
had a son William who was born in Hertfordshire,
England in 1620. He married Sallie
Culliford who was born in London in 1636, and it
appears that the two are apparently the
immigrants to New Kent County, Virginia as Sallie
was said to have died in New Kent county, VA in
1680 and William in 1682.
Charles Collier,
the son of William and Sallie was born 01 May
1660 in England and married on 21 April 1681 Mary
Eyers who was born on 20 August 1665 and died on
15 September 1701. Charles died in King
& Queen County, VA on 04 September 1735.
Captain John
Collier, the son of Charles and Mary
Eyers-Collier, was born in King and Queen County,
VA on 03 March 1685. He married on 03 Feb
1706 Frances Elizabeth Ironmonger, the daughter
of Francis and Elizabeth who was born on 03 May
1685 in Virginia. Captain John Collier's
wife Frances died 03 April 1709, and his death
followed on 24 March 1735.
John
Collier, the son of Captain John and Elizabeth
Ironmonger-Collier, was born in Virginia on 28
Feb 1707 and married Elizabeth Meredith, the
daughter of Samuel, in Hanover county, VA in
1739. John died at Collier's Creek, VA
about 1759, and their son is said to have been
John Collier who married Mildred Vaughn, thus
tying Rebecca to this line. However, this
information has not yet been verified.
