Samuel & Nancy were married in Madison County, IL on 28 May 1804. It appears Mary's last name in this census is Frazier and not Whiteside. This Samuel appears to be the same who served in the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, and whom Whiteside County was named. Family notes indicate he was buried in Hunter Cemetery in Christian Co., Illinois.

Letters indicate Mrs. Lincoln was a "staunch" friend of Louisa (Ballard) Pilcher, and that Ezekiel Pilcher had made some of Abe's furniture. My great-grandmother, Mae Lane, daughter of Clarissa recounted that as a young girl her mother (b.1845) had sat on Abe's lap. The Kalb family listed above, were also of some relation to James J. Kalb who married Clarissa's daughter, Caroline Pilcher.
