PILCHER FAMILY BURIALS
Many thanks to Susan Ing, and a special thanks to Connie Nisinger for her genuine kindness, time, and photographs!

Note: Section 9 of the cemetery is a common area, meaning these are individual graves which were used as needed, and not family lots. It is also the oldest part of the cemetery, and as seen in the following photos, this section has no headstones.

LOUISA (BALLARD) PILCHER
1809-1872

Note of T.A. Moore (son-in-law), regarding Louisa's burial. The daughter of Christopher Anthony Ballard & Eleanor (Mossman), Louisa was born 28 Feb 1809 in Grayson Co., Virginia. By 1820, her family was residing in Lake Twp., Logan Co., Ohio and ten years later the family was in Springfield, Illinois where she married Ezekiel Pilcher, son of Shadrach Pilcher and Sarah (Proctor) on 08 May 1828.

She and her family appear to have lived in or around Springfield where eight of their ten children (including two sets of twins) were born. Family papers indicate that Ezekiel died in Woodburn, Macoupin Co., Illinois in 1858, and by 1860 Louisa had moved to St. Louis. Her household at that time included five of her children: Richard M., Alexander, Edward, Ellenor, and Clarissa.

Louisa later lived with her married daughter, Eleanor Burden, where she was enumerated in the 1870 census in the 9th Ward of St. Louis. She died on 22 Dec 1872 at the age of 63 years, 9 months, and 24 days.
