Born in Fayette County Kentucky in 1806 and married Nancy Woolsey in Fayette Co., IL on 06 April 1837. They were the parents of William, John Kay, Joseph, Richard, Robert, Williamson, Nancy, Claytone & Ephriam Gatewood.

Winslow and Averilla (Gatewood) had been buried in unmarked graves in the Pilcher Cemetery. This marker honors his service as a private in the Virginia Militia under Captain G. Smith in the War of 1812.

Winslow was born in Culpeper County, Virginia in 1794 and died in Brownstown, Illinois on 05 Aug 1866. He and Averilla were married in Henry County, Kentucky in 1820. The first five of their nineteen children were born in Kentucky before the family along with Thomas Gatewood came to Otego Twp. (then Cumberland) in about 1827. (William, Thomas, Margarette, Sarah, Robert)

Their remaining children, all born in Fayette Co., Illinois were: Mary Ann, Winslow, Octavia, Eliza, Elizabeth, Louisianna, Joshua, Richard, Jonathan, Joseph, Josiah, Charles, Averilla, and Cordelia.

A letter written by Charles Benjamin Pilcher in 1897 or 1898 to Ed and Warren Pilcher discussing his siblings and ancestry, is in the possession of Patricia Davidson-Peters.

Hannah was the daughter of David Washburn of Dartmouth, Massachusetts & Esther (Griffith) of New York. She was born in Catskill, New York in 1829 and died in 1907. Married in 1847 in Fayette County, IL to William Lewis Pilcher. William was the eldest child of Winslow and Averilla (Gatewood) and was born on the 20th of November. He and Hannah were the parents of eight children: Louisa, Winslow, Clara, Mary, Lewis, John, Laura and Robert Pilcher. (Headstone of Hannah's parents below)

David Washburn was born in Dartmouth, Massachusetts on 13 August 1785 and died in Fayette Co., Illinois on 13 March 1852. His wife was Esther Griffith of New York. They were enumerated in the 1850 census for Fayette County, Illinois.

Esther Griffith was born in New York in 1789 and died on August 2nd 1856. She and her husband Davids Washburn were the parents of fifteen children: Isaac, Reuben, Philip, Cyrene, Leonard, Harvey, David, Ezra, George, Daniel, Hannah, Almon, Eli, Leroy, and Ira Washburn.
